Google Glass cost price $80

The materials used for Google Glass have a total cost price of only $80. Teardown.com took Google Glass apart and calculated the costs of each part. Google is selling Glass for a price of $1.500.

Glass is relatively priced higher than smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S5. The parts inside an S5 cost about $200 and the retail price is around $600.

The low cost price is in fact good news for the future of Google Glass. Previously Google announced that the target consumer price for Glass should be much lower. There was broad speculation for a price below $500. With its current cost price that target can be reached and it still leaves room for better hardware. The chances for Google Glass being a mass market product just got a lot bigger.
